The holes become concrete traces of violence, engraving the surface of the face and transforming it into a place of injury. Even the look is affected: the pupil emptied and filled with lead makes visible a pain that is not limited to the body, but compromises the very possibility of seeing and being seen.
IRINA does not represent the event, but what the event leaves: signs, loss, vulnerability. Yet the eye that has remained intact continues to look, preserving a human presence where violence attempts to erase it.
