The almost monochromatic face is crossed by the intensity of the blue eyes and red lips, while the fabric of a vibrant, soft and voluminous red invades the composition and extends into the dress. Its presence creates a continuity between the surface, the dress and the figure, to the point of contending with the face itself for the centre of the image. MELISSA thus plays on the tension between identity and matter, between the face as a recognizable element and what surrounds it, almost to the point of incorporating it.
