Figures emerge from dark or undefined places, as if they were crossing a threshold. It is not always an escape, nor necessarily a complete rebirth: sometimes it is only the first moment in which the possibility of an elsewhere is glimpsed. The face, progressively brought to light, tells a process of transformation: leaving what looms behind to confront a new world, still uncertain but open. Matter does not only represent what the figure emerges from, but preserves the trace of the path crossed. Between darkness and openness, presence and fading, each work tells the fragile moment when something begins to change.
