In MATILDE, the figure seems to pierce the surface to cross it: the veil falls and what was hidden is revealed in its essence. The shoulder projected forward gives the gesture a physical dimension, giving the body the strength and determination of those who are coming out of a space now left behind. The contrast between the darkness from which it comes and the light towards which it is directed becomes a metaphor for a condition that is transformed: what is abandoned dissolves, while a new reality begins to manifest itself.
